A set of Nashville Democrats are sponsoring a charge that would generate a legal defense for folks found with limited levels of weed, provided it is perfect for medical purposes.
The legislation, sponsored by Sen. Jeff Yarbro and Rep. Harold Love, allows those experiencing a bunch of medical ailments, including cancers and glaucoma, to own only one ounce of cannabis.
Yarbro said the solution is essential because the legislature has didn’t craft guidelines for medical weed on the statewide basis.
“At the minimum, individuals who are using marijuana to take care of chronic condition and make their lives possible shouldn’t live under the regular risk of being imprisoned,” he said lately.
The legislation would essentially give a proper legal protection for someone with an authentic medical diagnosis that cannabis has been approved.
Although there’s another and larger work to legalize medical pot in Tennessee, Yarbro said his invoice is an primary step that may pave just how for the larger solution. He also said his legislation would provide as a fallback in case the larger charge failed.
The other day, Rep. Jeremy Faison, R-Cosby, and Sen. Steve Dickerson, R-Nashville, unveiled a comprehensive solution that could only allow oil-based made products, such as pills or creams, and wouldn’t normally permit the sales of uncooked cannabis.

The other day, Yarbro said he thought Rep. Bob Ramsey, R-Maryville, was considering sponsoring the strategy. Yarbro and Ramsey offered on a particular committee regarding medical pot that formed before this year.
Inside a midweek interview, Ramsey said he wasn’t sure he’d be sponsoring the monthly bill, adding that he have support the bigger medical marijuana solution.
“I’m going to be in talk with (Yarbro),” Ramsey said, discussing the Nashville Democrats’ expenses.
